Bolt pattern from metric to inches!

As bolt patterns can be written in both metric millimeters and inches we thought it would be nice with a simple conversion chart/table that contains the most common lug patterns in both of these measurements = metric and inches (SAE). By the way, SAE stands for Society of Automotive Engineers which was founed in the early years of the 1900. SAE used to use inches as their standard but has since moved on to metric, although inches are still being used by many, such as some online stores, Internet forums, etc.

The most common way to write a bolt pattern is in metric millimeters, but inches are also used very often, especially in USA.

Look at the chart below, it contains all of the bolt patterns from the table at www.bolt-pattern.com and also some more.

Calculate manually.

If a bolt pattern size is missing from the above table it is very easy to manually convert the measurement between metric and inches, all you need to know is that 1 inch equals 25,4 millimeters!

Calculator to manually calculate the bolt pattern from metric to inches or from inches to metric

So, if we have a bolt pattern in metric, lets say 5 x 127 mm and want to convert it to inches, we just divide 127 with 25,4 which leaves us with 5".

If we on the other hand have the bolt pattern in inches, in this case 5 x 4.5", and want to convert it to millimeters, we multiply 4.5 with 25.4 = 114,3 mm! Really basic math as you can see!

Notice! This blog post is kind of related to our article about bolt patterns which you can find here, but we felt the metric-to-inches table deserved its own post for it to be easier to view. We have also updated the information at our main page, www.bolt-pattern.com, with the above Metric to Inches table.

We hope the conversion chart came to use - Best regards from us at Bolt-pattern.com.
